Cub Scout Space Derby

Last night was the first (and last-ha, ha) annual Space Derby for our Cub Scout Pack. As usual, I inherited the responsibility of making sure Bryan had a rocket to race. Bryan came up with the colors, stripe placement, and flame ideas. I did most of the leg work. He was able to spray some of the paint this time (his thumb must be getting stronger since the pinewood derby). Here is the end result:

Bryan's rocket didn't end up doing so well. We tried all the tricks that were suggested, but somehow still ended up losing 3 out of 3 races. Oh, well. Bryan would rather run around with his friends, than to be burdened with winding the propeller (that thing hurt if you let go accidentally) and watching it go down the track.

At the Pack Meeting in January, Bryan earned his Wolf badge and a gold and silver arrow point. Good job, Bryan. We're proud of you!
