Here's the last (and only) shot of me pregnant before changing into my gown for the big event! The hospital called at 8:15 pm on Thursday, November 6, to tell us they were ready for us to come in to start the induction. We left the boys at home with my mom and sister and headed for the hospital around 9:30. At 10:00 they started me on an IV with antibiotics because I had tested positive for group B strep. At 1:00 am they started the pitocin to get my contractions going. At about 7:30 I asked for an epidural, and once I got that the nurse checked me. She said I was 3 cm dilated and then stretched me to 5 cm and broke my water. At 8:30 I was at an 8, and an hour later I was at a 9. The nurse had turned down the pitocin because the baby didn't seem to be tolerating the hard contractions. At about 10:15 I called the nurse to tell her I felt pressure and like I should push. She came in and I was dilated to 10 cm and ready to go! She had me push through one contraction and came to the same conclusion as other nurses in the past-I'm a good pusher! So she told me to wait until she called the doctor to do any more pushing. Of course he was doing a proceedure in his office next to the hospital, so I had to wait 10-15 minutes. Once he got to my room the nurse had me push again and then had me wait again until the doctor got on his gloves and gown. Once he was ready I pushed through one last contraction (and a few "chuckles" at Napoleon Dynamite quotes) and the baby was born at 11:01 am, Friday, November 7. All in all it was an easy and uneventful delivery (thank heavens!).
